1611/0/10009 SANDFORD ORCAS ROAD 22-JUN-04 Former School
II School and master's house. 1859. Stone rubble with Ham stone dressings. Steeply-pitched clay scalloped tile roof with stone-coped gable ends with kneelers and gableted apexes. Chimney stack at left gable end with rebuilt brick shaft. PLAN: Schoolroom on right and master's house in crosswing on left. Tudor Gothic style. EXTERIOR: 2 storeys and attic master's house on left in gabled crosswing, ground floor blind, first floor with 3-light window with hoodmould and 2-light attic window above with trefoil ventilator in gable apex; single-storey schoolroom on right with two 2-light windows; all windows with moulded stone frames with hoodmoulds. Right-hand return gable end has large 4-light cross-mullion-transom window with hoodmould and quatrefoil ventilator in gable above. INTERIOR not inspected. A good example of a small parish school and master's house in the Tudor Gothic style.
