785/0/10122 SOUTH HILL 02-FEB-05 Former lodge to Sitka

GV II Lodge. Circa 1883, designed by Ernest Newton. Vernacular Revival style. Ground floor of red brick, first floor tile-hung with a gabled tiled roof with central brick chimneystack. Asymmetrical plan with irregular fenestration of wooden mullioned casement windows. EXTERIOR: The north west or front elevation has a projecting off central gable with triple wooden casement window and coved base over an open porch supported on paired wooden piers. Six-panelled door behind. The left side of the ground floor has a five-light canted bay. The south west side has a large gable with three-light window to the first floor and five-light canted bay window to the round floor. The south east or rear elevation retains original windows and a lean-to, currently with C20 covering. Lean-to extension to north east. HISTORY: A subsidiary building to Sitka designed by Ernest Newton for Emil Teichman and built in 1883.
