GV II Offices, formerly manufactory and offices. c.1920 with late C20 alterations. Red brick with reconstituted stone dressings and decoration, plain brick chimney and roof concealed by shallow ramped brick parapet.
PLAN: wide frontage range, with main entrance and vehicle entrance at either end, and with workshop range, now adapted extending to rear.
EXTERIOR: Asymmetrical elevation of 2 storeys above a basement, with wide vehicle entrance bay to left, 4 intermediate bays to centre and principal entrance bay to right. Entrance bay with undulating parapet delineated by banded pilasters over narrow lancet lights at each floor level. Ground and basement levels with reconstituted stone facings, the basement openings with chamfered surrounds. Moulded plinth band curves into recessed entrance, the inner doorway set within a shallow segmental arched opening with a 3 pane overlight. To the right, a single lancet with glazing bar frame and a wide tripartite window with glazing bars and stepped transoms. All openings have segmental-arched heads and moulded surrounds. Above, a dentilled cornice and deep storey band, then 6 single light openings set within semi-circular arch with pronounced voussoirsextending the full width of the entrance bay. Upper cornice set below undulating low parapet. Central 4-bay part with flat heads to basement windows, enclosed behind contemporary iron railings with scrolled heads. Above, a chamfered cill band with 4, 3-light transomed glazing bar windows below moulded shallow-arched heads and banded intermediate piers. Storey band and dentilled cill band to 4 upper floor flat-headed transomed windows, cornice and shallow parapet.
Vehicular entrance to left with late C20 railed gates set between flanking pilasters. Moulded segmental arch with infill brickwork and lower flat lintel. Dentilled cornice forms cill band for a shallow 5-light overlight below shallow banded arch. Upper floor 3-light window with stepped transoms. Rear range of 2 storeys accessed via vehicle entrance, formerly workshops, now adapted to office use.
INTERIOR: Remodelled late C20, with fully glazed inner entrance door and contemporary stair.
Forms an important element of the setting of St Pauls Church (q.v.)

A finely -detailed early C20 example of the distinctive industrial architecture of this manufacturing district of Birmingham now recognised as being of international significance. This design presented the functional sub-divisions of C19 manufactories in a contemporary architectural vocabulary.
