995/0/10101 Terrace walling, steps, seats and balu strading at Duckings

GV II Terrace walling, steps, seats and balustrading. Circa 1911 but incorporating C19 or earlier architecturual fragments. Laid out by Helen Elizabeth Weir who improved the gardens at Duckings in an Italianate style. They comprise a terrace to the south west of Duckings with low stone walling with squaue piers and ball finials. At the north east end is a stone seat with arms formed of console brackets and back formed of architectural fragments with trefoil panels. Steps lead to a curved bay with further balustrading with ball finials and attached stone seat. Further steps lead to the banks of a large pond where the walling continues with two further stone seats. The south western side of the pond is bordered by unusual square stone pier balustrading. Further attached architectural fragments include cross-shaped panels and corbel heads. These garden features form a large early C20 garden structure, which groups with Duckings and is a significant part of the history of the property.
