SUDBROOKE

423/0/10001 MAIN DRIVE, SUDBROOKE PARK 06-OCT-05 Bridge

GV II Bridge spanning Nettleham Brook. 1907. Red brick with stone dressings. The bridge consists of a single brick arch with a stone plinth and parapets above. The parapets have a central stone balustrade with stone piers to each end. Flanking these central sections are brick walls with stone copings and end piers with pyramidal caps. One of the central piers has a date plaque which reads "CCS 1907", CCS being the initials of the then owner, Charles Coningby Sibthorpe. He built the bridge as part of his improvements to Sudbrooke Park, which was then the grounds of a now demolished 18th century Manor House.

This bridge has close architectural and historic links, and forms a group with, the already listed entrance gates, gate piers and lodges (q.v.)to Sudbrooke Park
