MATERIALS: Stone.

DESCRIPTION: A simple cross head and tapering chamfered shaft, probably of Portland stone, set upon a square plinth. It stands on a base of three steps. The inscription on the plinth runs around the four sides and reads: `IN GRATEFUL MEMORY / OF THOSE WHO GAVE THEIR / LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY / 1914-19 (surname and regiment)'. Those who lost their lives in the Second World War are commemorated on a separate stone fixed to the steps on the north side of the memorial. It is inscribed: `1939-1945 / (surname and regiment)'.

HISTORY: This war memorial was erected to commemorate those who died during the Great War. A separate inscription stone was added later for those men who died in the Second World War.

The war memorial in Bere Regis is designated at Grade II for the following principal reasons:

* It has group value with the adjoining church, which is listed at Grade I.
