House. c1700, altered late C18. MATERIALS: Rough rubblestone, no longer rendered, pantile roof. Rendered timber framed rear wall. PLAN: Double depth plan with parallel ranges. Double gable front with central entrance. EXTERIOR: Two storeys with attics in gables, and basement. Four windows, unbalanced front with single window to left, and equally spaced windows from centre to right. Long and short flush quoins, raised dressings to windows. Doorway architrave with heavy wave moulding, panelled door with rectangular light over. Wrought-iron railings to ground floor. Windows are six/six sashes of late C18 type, but left hand ones are eight/eight, basement ones are plain glazed in chamfered openings. Moulded cornice band above first floor. Two small three/six sashes to either gable and larger three/six sash between. Coped gables, which project forward from main roof which is parallel with street, stone end stacks with pots. Full height parallel rear range. Single two/two sashes in end wall with two light mullioned window with drip-mould in attic. INTERIOR: Not inspected. HISTORY: Not shown on Gilmore's Map of 1694, but must date from soon after it. The irregular front, of rough masonry, may originally have been rendered. SOURCES: E.
