GV II A late-C19 milestone standing east of Thurlibeer House on the A3072 road. The rectangular shaped slate stone has straight edges, with a chamfered front surface inscribed 'HOLSY 6 / BUDE 3 1/2 STRATTON 2'. Some of the black paint to the inscription remains. The stone is slightly damaged to the right hand corner.
HISTORY This milestone is one of a series of slate milestones between Bude and Highampton in Devon, erected in the 1870s when the road was improved. Of the group, three stones have survived in Devon (listed at Grade II), and of the Cornish ones along this stretch, also three survive, of which this is one. The milestone is marked on the Ordnance Survey map of 1880.
