House, now flats. c1790-1793 with C19 and C20 alterations. By John Palmer. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front, render to basement, ashlar and rendered bay only visible to rear, Welsh slate double pile parapeted mansard roof with coped party wall with two ashlar stacks to right. Staircase to rear. EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, two-window range. First floor has two six/six-sashes in splayed reveals with stone sills, to right with wrought iron balconette, second floor has two similar windows without balconette, ground floor has one similar window to right, to left six-panel door with beaded, fielded and single glazed panel with C19 brass knocker in pedimented Doric doorcase, one step to pennant paved crossover with wrought iron footscraper. Small plate glass sash to left of front door. Basement has two six/six-sashes in plain reveals with continuous stone sill, no door to front under crossover, C20 area steps. Double dormer with six/six-sashes. Band course over ground floor, frieze, moulded eaves cornice and coped parapet. Rear elevation barely visible; canted full height parapeted bay has six/six-sashes to second floor. INTERIOR: Not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with urn tops on painted limestone bases. HISTORY: Part of incomplete St James's Square development on land leased by Fielder, King, Hewlett and Broom from Sir Peter Rivers Gay 25 March 1790; lower part of Park Street forms one of the four diagonal approaches to St James's Square.
