Small house, with shop, at end of terrace, with return to Princes Street. Early C19. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, rubble to rear, slate roof. EXTERIOR: Three storeys, twelve pane sashes in plain reveals, one at second floor above two at first floor; large C19 six pane display window under frieze and moulded cornice, with glazed door on one step, with slab hood on shaped brackets, left. Small plinth, platband above ground floor, and above this BEAUFORD SQUARE incised to masonry; cornice with blocking course and parapet, returned to coped gable, left, with two small lights, a display window, and central six panel door. Deep stack to the right. Rear wall to plain eaves. INTERIOR: Not inspected. HISTORY: The property forms the end of the terrace on the north side of Beauford Square, but is of a later date than the remaining houses, and seems to have been restored. The original square was BEAUFORT, named after the Duke by one of the lessees of the land.
