House, now flats. c1786 with C20 additions. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front, rubble to exposed flank wall to left side and to rear, double pile parapeted mansard roof, Welsh slate to front and rear, with coped party wall with two stacks rebuilt in reconstituted Bath stone to left. Staircase to front. EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, two-window range. First floor has two plate glass sashes with splayed reveals, second floor has two six/six-sashes with splayed reveals, ground floor has one plate glass horned sash with splayed reveal and stone sill to left, to right six-panel door with flush, fielded and glazed panels in plain reveal, small single-pane sash to right of door, pennant paved crossover flush with pavement with cast iron footscraper. Basement has six/six-sash in plain reveal with stone sill, crossover partially infilled below with ashlar and timber screen, C20 area steps. Triple dormer with two/two-sashes. Band course over ground floor, weathered sill band to first and second floors, modillion eaves cornice and coped parapet continuous with No.14 Portland Place (qv). Rear elevation has Venetian windows with glazing bar sashes to first and second floors, three windows similarly grouped with glazing bar sashes to centre and right to second floor, similarly grouped windows with small C20 extension to above ground basement, C20 windows to double dormer, lead hopperhead at eaves to left. INTERIOR: Not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with urn tops and urn finial to right on painted limestone bases. HISTORY: See entry for 1-10 Portland Place.
