GV II
Public house. c1830. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar or dressed stone, some painted, slate roofs. PLAN: main gabled range faces south across open yard area, and returns with paired gables and extended wing towards junction with Combe Road. EXTERIOR: Four window front of two storeys, right hand bay to right of chimneystack is probably an addition to the original symmetrical three bay front. Windows are all plain sashes. Porch with square Doric columns in second bay from left, with full entablature above. Plinth, mid plat band, frieze, cornice, blocking course and parapet, with coped gables and end stacks. Road front has two gables, with large twelve-pane sash at first floor, and two-light to left, with six-panel flush door and transom light under pediment hood on large brackets. To right range with twelve-pane sashes, with cavetto cornice and parapet, beyond, at slight angle, service range on two storeys, with two blind windows above wide garage opening. INTERIOR: Not inspected.
