Irregular terrace house, now shop. Probably H.E. Goodridge, 1827-30 (lease of No.4 dated 8th October 1831); altered mid C19 and C20. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, roof unseen, stack to left party wall. PLAN: Double depth plan. EXTERIOR: Four storeys including an attic storey, one window wide. Tripartite windows with panelled stone uprights. Centre of attic storey recessed with parapet, cornice and sill band, three/three-pane sash window is flanked by plain paired pilasters. Straight cornice, frieze, and lintel band are supported by paired giant order Tuscan pilasters flanking six/six-pane sash window and moulded sill string course to second floor and six/nine-pane sash to first floor with pediment to centre of lintel string course. Similar string spans facade over plain C20 shop fascia. Good mid C19 shopfront has half glazed door with three-pane over light to left and margin panes to two pane overlights to each of paired plate glass sash windows with curved upper corners. Banded rusticated pilasters flank ground floor and four-panel door and overlight to right. INTERIOR: Not inspected. HISTORY: Part of Goodridge's Late Georgian development of Cleveland Place and Bridge for the Bathwick Estate. SOURCES: [Bath Preservation Trust, 'Beyond Mr Pulteney's Bridge' (1987 exhib. Cat.), 34).
