Shop with accommodation over. c1752 altered C19 and C20. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front and rear with area of C20 render to rear. PLAN: Double pile parapeted mansard roof, double Romans to front and rear, with rebuilt ashlar stacks rising from coped gable wall to left. EXTERIOR: Two storeys, attic and basement, two window front. First floor has two six/six sashes in cyma moulded architraves; ground floor has C20 shopfront. No openings to basement. Two single dormers with plate glass sashes. Band course over ground floor; sill band to first floor; moulded eaves cornice and coped parapet. Rear elevation has to first floor two six/six sashes in flat beaded surrounds with cyma mouldings rising from stone sills, ground floor has two/two horned sash in plain reveal with rebate for external shutters and stone sill and six panel door in plain reveal. Access to basement via area of Nos 5 and 6 Broad Street (qv) adjoining. Single dormer. Rear range narrower than that to front giving access to flat via C20 external stair. INTERIOR: Not inspected; ground floor noted as having undergone major alterations for shop. HISTORY: Probably rebuilt c1752 along with much of west side of Broad Street in conjunction with building of King Edward's Grammar School. It was the offices of the Bath Gas Light and Coke Company until 1853, when it moved to Upper Bristol Road (qv).
