Detached house. c1800 with C20 alterations. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, roof unseen with moulded stacks to gable ends. EXTERIOR: Two storey, three-window range to garden front. Coped parapet encircles building (except to north side) and rises to meet three stacks. Six/six-pane sash windows. South garden front has richer cornice, lintel frieze and first floor sill band. Left hand bay steps well forward with tall narrow window to right return. Sliding louvred blinds have scalloped edges to top rails. Elaborately glazed door close to angle has margin lights and margin panes to latticed centres of door and overlight. Hinged shutter up to overlight has trellis panelling. Trellised porch with similar scallop edge frieze similar to those over sliding shutters has C20 glass hipped roof. Angled north entrance facade has two windows to main block and one to forward wing of L-plan. Six-panel door in angle in enclosed hip roofed C20 porch reflecting margin pane style of glazing. Wing attached to north late C19. INTERIOR: Not inspected. Bath Preservation Trust Interiors Survey reports presence of a stone staircase; drawing room with lozenge-enriched doors and shutter doors; original plasterwork. HISTORY: Originally known as Acacia Villa. John Pinch the Younger has been suggested as the designer of the house.
