Two houses now two shops. Mid C18 with alterations c1840. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, continuous slate mansard roof with heightened attics, two dormers each and moulded stacks to outer walls. PLAN: Double depth. EXTERIOR: Three storeys with attics and basements, each house three window front. Continuous coped parapet. Stopped modillion cornices, that to No.37 stepped slightly up. Modillions to cornice to No.36 to left have been reduced to flat blocks. Six/six pane sash windows to upper floors, splayed reveals to second floor. Ground floor spanned by cornice over fascia flanked by paired fluted consoles, central small paned shop window of three rows of five panes flanked by half-glazed double doors with margin paned overlights. No.37 has two/two pane sash windows to dormers. Painted splayed reveals to four/four pane sashes without horns to second and first floors, part of platband over raised and fielded six panel door and tall margin paned overlight to far left. c1840 shop has dentil cornice flanked by elaborate consoles with pendants, moulded lintel, decorative recessed panel below moulded sill to small paned shop window of three rows of six panes to right, set back half-glazed shop door to left under two pane overlight. INTERIORS: Not inspected.
