Terrace house Sydney Buildings. Early C19, with late C19 alterations. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, roof unseen, moulded stacks to gable ends. PLAN: Double depth plan with projecting wing to right. EXTERIOR: Three storeys including attic storey and lower ground floor, two-window range. Late C19 attic storey makes house taller than rest of terrace, low coped parapet and cornice, and two plate glass sash windows. Second floor cornice, level with those of adjacent houses, over six/six-pane sash window to left and eight/eight pane sash to right. Below, to right, first floor projection with parapet, cornice and six/six-pane sash to front, later conservatory below. To front, projecting, flat roofed porch with panelled sides and lintel to six-panel door. To left another small projecting wing. INTERIOR: Not inspected. HISTORY: This development on the Bathwick Estate took its name from Henry Vane, 4th Earl of Darlington who succeeded to the estate of the Countess of Bath in 1808. John Pinch the Elder was associated with much of the development on this estate.
