Semi-detached villa. Early C19. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate roof. PLAN: Compact block with slightly set back lower wing each side. EXTERIOR: Two storeys and semi-basement, one:three:one windows, all sashes, but centre unit blind, formerly with painted in sash. Main range has twelve-pane sash at second floor, above larger twelve-pane sashes with plain pilasters to rosette imposts and frieze in sunk arched panel, repeated in blind centre panel. No.50 cast iron flower guards to each level. Lower ground floor, in slight plinth, has small two-light casements. Wings have small twelve-pane sashes above panelled and part-glazed door with swagged fanlight, in pilasters with impost and sunk band, on short flight of steps. Central ashlar stack. Returns plain, and back, approached by service road, has nine and twelve-pane sashes above twelve-pane, with ashlar extension to No.50 and timber clad to No.52. Centre and wings have cavetto cornice with blocking piece and parapet. INTERIORS: Not inspected. A handsome pair of houses set high above the main road, and facing east, and deliberately contrasted with Nos 48/50 (qv) to the right.
