GV II

Three terrace houses on sloping canal side site, rising to south and stepped up from No.26 up to No.28 to south. c1820 with C20 additions. In the manner of John Pinch. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, single pitched slate mansard roofs each with two late C19 dormers and moulded stacks to coped party walls. PLAN: Double depth plans. EXTERIOR: Two storeys with attics and lower ground floors; each house has a two-window front with channelled rustication to ground floors with radial voussoirs over doors and windows, with dropped keystones. Coped parapets and cornices sweep up to left of each house front. Ground floor platbands, first floor sill bands. No.26 has two/two-pane sash windows to dormers and plate glass sash windows below. To right, late-C19 four-panel door and overlight with small rectangular window to right. No.27 similar with door to left. No.28 has C20 two-light casement windows to dormers and six/six-pane sashes below. To left small rectangular window and six-panel door glazed to top with circular central panels to centre, reeded lintel and set-forward painted overlight with lozenge pane. To rear, parapet and cornice sweep up as at front and continue round full height canted bays to No.26 and 27, each with paired dormers. No.28 wider, has three plate glass sash windows to dormer. INTERIORS: Not inspected.
