MALVERN TERRACE Nos.1-6 (Consec) Malvern Lodge (No.6) (Formerly Listed as: CAMDEN ROAD (South side) Nos 1-6 (consec) Malvern Terrace and Malvern Lodge) 05/08/75

GV II

Terrace of five houses with Malvern Lodge (No.6) attached to right. Mid C19 with C20 alterations. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar. PLAN: Double pitched roofs formerly slate, now some with double Roman tiles with moulded stacks to party walls, some are truncated. Double depth plans. Similar in style to Belgrave Terrace (qv). EXTERIOR: Two storeys and lower ground floor, each house two-window front. Plate glass sash windows, continuous coved eaves cornice, raised hoods with decorative stops to first floor windows, first floor sill bands with projecting bracketed sills, ground floor platband, plinth, raised shouldered surrounds and bracketed sills to ground floor windows, five-panel doors glazed to top with shallow hoods on consoles. Nos 1, 2 and 5 have double Roman tile roofs, Nos 3 and 5 have truncated stacks. Malvern Lodge to left has two windows to street similar to those of terrace and door now half-glazed, to right. No eaves cornice, first floor sill band and ground floor platband continue around left entrance return that has wide eaves and plain bargeboards to two slate roofed forward facing gables with first floor windows similar to those on ground floor of terrace. Gable to rear stepped forward with single storey lean-to in angle. INTERIORS: Not inspected.
