MARGARET'S BUILDINGS (West side) Nos.15B AND 16 (Formerly Listed as: MARGARET'S BUILDINGS Nos.11 AND 16) 12/06/50
GV II
Shop. c1773, altered mid C19. Part of a development by John Wood the Younger. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, slate mansard roof with two dormers, hipped to right. PLAN: Double depth plan. EXTERIOR: Two storeys, two-window range. Coved eaves cornice, two/two-pane sash windows, those to first floor with flaps to hold upper sashes, swept pediment and moulded shallow-pointed architrave to right over four-panel door with chamfered arrises, trefoil heads to upper panels, diagonal boarding to lower panels and leaded overlight. One of entrances to Margaret Chapel by John Wood the Younger, built c1773, destroyed 1942. To left is projecting small paned shop window with cornice to fascia and central half glazed door and overlight. INTERIOR: Not inspected.
