HAY HILL 656-1 (North side) No.3 (Formerly Listed as: HAY HILL Nos.3 AND 4) 05/08/75

House. Appears to be c1800 front, altered later C19 . MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, painted on ground floor, with rubble side walls, roof not visible from street. PLAN: Narrow frontage, double depth plan and entrance on left. EXTERIOR: Four storeys and basement, fourth storey presumably c1870 heightening of existing attic to full storey. One window wide. Basement has grating to basement window in painted plinth. Ground floor has been converted from shopfront at some time in late C19 and contains plain wall with plain sash with horns, panelled door to left with pilaster on jamb and shop fascia above. First floor has plain sash with cornice hood on console brackets. Second floor has small plain sash. Band at third floor sill level marking line of previous cornice, two/two-sash. Cornice, parapet. Rear elevation not seen. INTERIOR: Not inspected.
