GROVE STREET 656-1/0/0 (East side) Nos.5 AND 6 (Formerly Listed as: GROVE STREET (East side) No.4 (The Rising Sun Public House) and No.5) 05/08/75

Two terrace houses, now shops. Early C19 with mid C19 and C20 alterations. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, double pitched mansard roof with double Roman tiles to top slope and slate to lower slope, two dormers two-light to the left and moulded stacks to party walls. PLAN: Double depth plan. EXTERIOR: Three storeys with attic and cellar, symmetrical three-window range. Coped parapet, cornice and ground floor platband are continuous with those of No.4, the Rising Sun (qv) to right. Mid C19 horizontal glazing bars to two/two-pane sash windows to upper floors, central six-panel door and overlight are flanked by small plate glass shop windows with cornices to fascias and panelled pilasters to frames. To far left C20 door to former carriageway. INTERIOR: Not inspected.
