Terrace house, now corner shop. Late C18 with C19 addition. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar painted to ground floor, slate mansard roof hipped to right corner with dormers and moulded stacks to party walls. PLAN: Double depth plan with curved corner. EXTERIOR: Three storeys with attic and basement, three-window range. Returned coped parapet, modillion cornice, first floor sill band (with lowered sills) and ground floor platband. Formerly with six/six-pane sash windows, now with six/one-pane sashes to second floor left and centre, blind to right; first floor has six/six-pane sashes flanking two/two-pane sash, one six/six-pane sash with balconette to left of steps up to set back six-panel door glazed to top, in pedimented doorcase with engaged Tuscan columns. To right of door lead downpipe. Right return in Julian Road has two/two-pane sash windows to upper floors. Late C19 shop has ornamented upper corners with sunk spandrels to plate glass windows, one to Gloucester Road front, one to curved corner (formerly of curved glass) and two-pane window to right of right return. Panelled pilasters with consoles flank half-glazed bolection moulded door to left and support cornice and fascia. Blocked panel to far right said to be former shutter store; if so only one surviving in Bath. INTERIOR: Not inspected. SOURCES: (Finch G: Shopfront Record, Bath City Council: 1992).
