MORFORD STREET (West side) No.27 and attached railings (Formerly Listed as: MORFORD STREET Nos.3-27 (Odd)) 11/08/72

GV II

Formerly known as: Nos 10-22 (consec) & No.1 Belvedere Place MORFORD STREET. Terrace house, now flats. c1775-1789 with C20 alterations. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar to front, ashlar and rubble to rear, double pile parapeted mansard roof, Welsh Slate to front, double Romans to upper slope to rear, Welsh Slate to lower, with coped party wall to left with two ashlar stacks with some early clay pots. Staircase to rear. EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, single bay three-window front. First floor has three grouped plate glass horned sashes, narrower to left and right, in splayed reveals with continuous stone sill with wrought iron balconette. Second floor has three similar sashes without balconette. Ground floor has to left two paired similar sashes without balconette, to right six-panel door with flush and fielded panels in beaded reveal, one Pennant step to concreted crossover. Basement has two blocked windows, C20 door under crossover. Double dormer with four/four-horned sashes. Band course over ground floor, moulded eaves cornice and coped parapet. Rear elevation has six/six-sashes, with horns except to ground floor and second half-landing, C20 louvered lights to top sash to second floor, C20 alterations to basement, C20 porch sheltering new rear access to flats. INTERIOR: Not inspected, noted as having undergone alterations during conversion to flats. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Attached wrought iron railings and gate with urn heads on limestone bases.
