HARINGTON PLACE 656-1/0/0 (South side) No.2 with railings (Formerly Listed as: HARINGTON PLACE Nos.1 AND 2) 05/08/75

GV II

End terrace house, now flats. Late C18, converted mid C20. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, painted to ground floor, double Roman tile roof. PLAN: Square plan, entry and staircase to right, under mansard roof taken to coped gable at rear, formerly continued as terrace towards east. EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, three windows, all twelve-pane sashes, to sill band at first floor, and in splayed surrounds to ground floor and basement. To right six-panel door with transom light, in reeded pilasters and transom, on three stone steps. Return to left faces car parking area, and has two dormers above one twelve-pane sash at each level, far left, and door with sidelights. Two deep stacks this side, and small cornice with blocking course and parapet returned from front. INTERIOR: Inspected 1979. Stairs have Doric newel and colonnettes, original fireplaces and alcove cupboards. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Basement area enclosed by simple iron railings on stone curb, returned at end and doorway.
