HATFIELD BUILDINGS 656-1/0/0 (East side) Nos.18 AND 18A (Formerly Listed as: HATFIELD BUILDINGS, Widcombe Hill No.18) 05/08/75

GV II

House, now pair of houses. C.1820 with C20 additions. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, double Roman tile roof. PLAN: Narrow double depth plan house. EXTERIOR: South front faces Nos 13a-17 (qv), at higher level, has large twelve-pane sash and C20 glazed door under moulded cornice with blocking course and parapet. Return to west double gabled, but that to right asymmetrical, with two eight-pane sashes above plain sash, smaller light, and C20 door, left hand gable has ashlar stack. Returning forward from right hand end has long wing with lean-to roof, rear forming retaining wall to high pavement to right. North facing front has plain sash above C20 casement, front at acute angle to gabled return. East front has various lights at two levels. INTERIOR: Not inspected. This, with the other houses forming Hatfield Place (qv 1-8, 9-13, and 13a-17), is set low at the north-east corner of square, open towards north.
