Terrace house. 1764-1770 with C20 alterations. MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar, double Roman tile roof. PLAN: Single bay town house on generous scale, with double mansard roof, and deep gabled rear wing on three floors, entrance and staircase to left. EXTERIOR: Three storeys, attic and basement, all glazing bar sashes, paired twelve-pane dormer above eight:twelve:eight-pane at second floor, paired large twelve-pane to ground and first floors, and two twelve-pane to basement. Surrounds are splayed to three principal floors. Five-panel door in architrave and with flat cornice, platband, modillion cornice, stopped to ends, with small blocking course and parapet. Coped party divisions, with large stack to right, shared with No.32 (qv). Rear has staggered plain sashes, and two dormers, gabled wing has paired plain sash at each level in end wall. INTERIOR: Not inspected. SUBSIDIARY FEATURES: Basement area enclosed by simple railing on stone curb returned to doorway, and with gate to right giving to C20 basement staircase. HISTORY: The external fabric reveals the staggered building history of the row. Full terrace has broad consistency of detail, with variations in elevation, building in small sections, marked by straight joints.
