A former mews coach-house built in c1793, with some modern refurbishment.

Reasons for Designation

* Architectural interest: a purpose-built late-C18 former coach house with good-quality sculptural embellishment to the garden elevation;
* Group value: with the Grade II listed terrace on Beaufort East.

History

It was constructed in the late-C18 and is one of a number of mews coach houses built for the terrace of houses on Beaufort East.

Details

MATERIALS: Limestone ashlar with a pantile roof.

EXTERIOR: Two storeys. The street front has modern timber coach-house doors under a continuous lintel. The decorative garden front has a plain doorway to the left with a three-light fan over, and a small plain window to right. Above it are three small quatrefoils and a decorative castellated parapet.

INTERIOR: Not inspected.

This building is listed under the Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas) Act 1990 as amended for its special architectural or historic interest.
