A detached house. Early C19, extended late C19.
Reasons for Designation
* Architectural interest: a good example of a C19 rural dwelling;
* Group value: with nearby listed buildings on Lucklands Road and on adjacent streets.
History
An example of an early-C19 farmhouse and an important reminder of the former rural character of this part of Bath, now surrounded by later development.
Details
MATERIALS: coursed squared limestone rubble, some openings with ashlar dressings, Welsh slate roof.
PLAN: double depth plan, most of rear section being late C19 extension.
EXTERIOR: two storeys, three windows, ground floor has French doors in ashlar frames, and may be a later C19 alteration. First floor has six/six-sashes with soldier course heads. Hipped roof. Rear part has plain plate glass sashes, modern glazed door with pent slate porch. Some of the slate on the south-west side of the building, at the front elevation, has been recently re-slated with modern materials. Rear elevation not seen.
INTERIOR: not inspected.
