Summary
A war memorial in the churchyard of the church of St John the Baptist, Feckenham, Worcestershire. Designed by the Bromsgrove Guild and unveiled in 1920 by the Earl of Coventry.
Reasons for Designation
Feckenham War Memorial is listed at Grade II for the following principal reasons:
* Historic interest: it is a poignant reminder of the impact of world events upon an individual community and thus has strong cultural and historical significance within both a local and national context;
* Architectural interest: as an accomplished and well-realised war memorial by the noted Bromsgrove Guild, which takes the form of a Calvary cross;
* Group value: with the Church of St John the Baptist (listed Grade II*).
History
The monument was designed by the Bromsgrove Guild in 1919 and unveiled by the Earl of Coventry in 1920. It cost £167, raised by public subscription, and part of the money raised went towards electric lighting for the church and village hall.
