The Fountain
II
Drinking fountain. Built in 1909 by Alderman Grant in memory of his wife. Built of granite, oak and shingles. Grey granite base has a chamfered square plinth with two semi-circular red/brown granite bowls and pump housing with pyramidal roof and end curved pediments over the bowls. Above is a wooden canopy with four chamfered oak supports set diagonally and chamfered pyramidal roof hung with shingles with late 20th century electric lantern. The whole set on an octagonal stone step. There is an inscription on the side facing the road “In memory of LBG 13 May 1905."
