17 - 19 Christmas Steps, Bristol
This terrace of shops lies in the oldest part of Bristol. The slope reflects Bristol's position on the steep sides of a river gorge. The narrow lane and steps ran down to the River Frome in the 17th century. Bristol lost many of its oldest buildings due to heavy bombing during World War Two.
