A man with glass and shrapnel in wounds on his head and face. The Blitz and other German bombing campaigns led to large numbers of civillian casulties that required medical treatment during World War Two. Figures for the 8 months of the Blitz alone show that 43,000 civillians were killed, with figures for those injured varying from 46,000 to 139,000.
