This house, picturesquely sited on Belle Isle in Lake Windermere, was built in 1774 to designs by John Plaw and was one of the earliest cylidrical houses in the country. It has a massive portico of Ionic columns with a pediment, and the service offices are in the semi-basement. When photographed it was undergoing a major renovation.
