This large summer house is a type of building known as a belvedere and was built in 1891 on a viewpoint. It stands on the site of the former bull ring on Plymouth Hoe, a public park. It is a terraced building designed in classical style on 3 levels each with an open colonnaded front. The structure reused 17th century granite Tuscan columns taken from the old Market. It is one of many fine buildings in this park.
