Biggin Almshouses, Queen Street, Hitchin, Hertfordshire

These early 17th century almshouses were built in four ranges of 2 storeys round a small open courtyard. In his will of July 1654 John Kemp left this building (known as The Biggin), land and cottages in Biggin Lane for ten disabled women, apprenticing and other charitable uses.
