Bocase Stone, Benefield, Northamptonshire

This stone was probably put here in the 18th century and has the inscription "Here Stood Bocase Tree". The tree and then the stone were probably boundary or route markers in what was then a heavily forested area. There are also some myths that link the Bocase tree with a hiding place for Robin Hood.
