This farmhouse was built in the early 19th century for the Brudenell family of Deene Hall. By 1847 the house was occupied by a Thomas Barratt, who had a brick kiln to the west of the house. It was known as Brick Kiln Lodge. This part of Northamptonshire has a long history of brick making due to its geology. It has excellent clays for brick making.
