Brook Mill, Congleton, Cheshire

These silk throwing and weaving mills were originally built in 1785 as a water-powered mill. In the 19th century it was converted into a steam-powered mill. This is the largest surviving complex of silk mills in Congleton. It is the only remaining example in the region of a works used for silk spinning. This is a site of considerable historical interest at the centre of the local textile industry, illustrating a modest water powered factory.
