Crucible Shop, Abbeydale Industrial Hamlet, Sheffield, South Yorkshire

Along the walls crucibles are lined up on the shelving, while the furnaces used at this 18th-century site are situated beneath the floor. The crucibles containing steel ingots were positioned to the top of the furnace. The steel created in this workshop was used to create scythes.
