Cunard Shell Works, Rimrose Road, Bootle, Merseyside

Workers skilled in manufacture were scarce during World War I and so unskilled labour was used. Shells were brought to this factory to be finished, checked and painted for protection from rust, before being sent out to be filled with explosives at a different site.
