Dale Warehouse, dated 1806, is one of two surviving buildings built for the Rochdale Canal Company at its Manchester terminus. The initials WC on the datestone suggest that it may have been designed by William Crosley. It is of considerable interest as the earliest surviving canal warehouse in the city. It has a differenf structure from the warehouses of the Bridgewater Canal Basin. It has timber floors supported by unusual branched cast-iron columns. It is the only surviving canal warehouse of the period in Manchester to use cast-iron columns throughout.
