Dean's Yard, Westminster Abbey, Westminster, Greater London

Representatives of the International Rotary Club and Paris Rotary Club standing in front of the gateway at the north-west corner of Dean's Yard. They are posed for this portrait with a wreath and commemorative plaque in honour of the Unknown Warrior. The British tomb of the Unknown Warrior is located in Westminster Abbey. It is the resting place of an unidentified British soldier killed on a European battlefield during the First World War. The soldier was buried on the 11th of November 192. At the same time an unidentified French soldier was interred at the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. This may perhaps explain why the Parisian Rotary Club members' were here before the first anniversary of the British Unknown Soldier's burial.
