Deviation Works, Wistaston Road, Crewe, Cheshire

The coming of the railways was the making of many small towns and villages. Crewe had been a small hamlet before being reinvented as a railway town. From 1866 all of the locomotive building for the London and North-Western Railway Company was undertaken here.
