Drake Statue, The Promenade, Plymouth

The statue and memorial to Sir Francis Drake on the Promenade. Drake was famously playing bowls on the Hoe near here when he sighted the Spanish Armada sailing to invade. The statue was erected in 1884. The sculptor was J E Boehm. The statue is still (2011)there although the area around it has changed.
