Drinking Troughs and Shelters, Landkey, Devon

These 5 drinking troughs and 2 shelters date from the 19th century. They are approximately 15 metres north west of Hill Farmhouse. They were provided for the horses pulling carts of stone between the Venn quarries and the Barnstaple/South Molton Road. The drinking holes are narrow oblong openings in the wall giving access to a stream that has been channeled to deliver the water to the troughs.
