Duddon Iron Furnace, Millom Without, Cumbria

This furnace dates back to 1737 and the iron works was in use until 1867. It is the best surviving example of a charcoal fired iron furnace in the South Lakes district. The site is now open to the public and the excavated features have been left uncovered as part of the presentation.
