Duxford Chapel, Whittlesford, Cambridgeshire

Duxford Chapel is also known as The Chapel of the Hospital of St John the Baptist. It is a small rectangular chapel which mostly dates to around 1337. In 1548 the chapel was suppressed during the dissolution of chantries in the reign of Edward VI. It is said to have been unused for seven years prior to this. Sometime after 1554 the chapel was used as a barn. It was acquired and restored by the Ministry of Works in 1947-54 and is currently (2011) in the care of English Heritage. Find out more
