Fox Hall Farmhouse House, Southend on Sea, Southend on Sea

This farm house was built in the 1300s. It was originally an 'open hall'. This meant it just had an open fire in the centre of the room. An actual fireplace with a chimney was not added until c1500. It is an early example of a medieval timber framed hall house.
